Religious Education: Overview

Religious Education: Overview | REACH Covenant | Classes | YRUU

Dear Visitor,

We are glad you have chosen to visit the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Santa Cruz County.  We strongly believe that children and youth are an important part of our fellowship, and we have created a religious education program to help them on their spiritual journeys.  On Sunday mornings we offer childcare for children less than three years old. We have four classes led by trained teachers: preschool-kindergarten, grades 1-3, grades 4-6, and teens.  We also have a Young Religious Unitarian Universalist group for 12-22 yr-olds that meets the firsth and third Tuesdays of the month from 7-9 pm.

As Unitarian Universalists, we aim to teach our youth the UU principles, to expose them to different philosophical perspectives and religions, to provide a hands-on learning experience, and to encourage them to develop their own religious ideas.  This year the Sunday morning classes will be focusing on the 7th UU principle - the interconnected web of life. We have highly-qualified, paid religious education teachers who are assisted by fellowship members in order to provide a consistent educational environment.  Children's behavior is guided by UU principles which are embodied in our REACH covenant (see last page).  We ask all parents to play an active role in youth religious education and encourage regular class attendance.

We hope your child enjoys and is stimulated by our religious education program and encourage you to ask us any questions you may have.
